Year of The Dog

To me time is flying faster than the speed of light, this year is the Year of a Dog which brings me lots of thoughts about this special friendly pet. I think Dog is very special to human beings among pets, they are very friendly, loyal, give us warm affection and comfort.

My family used to have several dogs, which live with us their entire lives; I still remember every one of them. When we talk about dog, there are so many good things to mention about them. Here are a few things when I think of them.

- Dogs make us feel good, they come to us when they are called, they wag their tails when we come home from work, they are happy to see us and never complaint, not like people who live with us ļ
- Dogs usually return home if they get lost, they have their own way to mark wherever they go, that is unique.
- People like taking a bath for dogs, brush their hair, and some lucky enough even have dress, some people even allow them to sleep on their beds.
- Dogs are friendly and they love to play like catching small ball, sticks, etc.
- Dogs lick people face to show their feeling and affection toward us, we can feel how happy they are.
- Dogs are good for your health, they enjoy jogging with us and have good swimming skill too.
- Dogs bring us security, can protect owners in some cases and protect our properties when we leave home.
- Dogs¡¦ hearing and smelling senses are much better than human beings.
- One of the most important and unique features of dog that people really love them is they don¡¦t tell whether owner is poor or rich, handsome or ugly. They don¡¦t prejudice whether the owner is a president or a homeless, to them owner is the King, they are very loyal to the owner. That outstanding characteristic makes people feel wonderful about having them around.

On January 29, the world will witness the colourful celebrations that mark the Chinese New Year. Although it is the beginning of the Year of the Dog, very few people understand the hidden significance of this ancient system of Oriental astrology.
The Chinese lunar calendar is calculated according to the phases of 12 moons, each of which lasts for 29-and-a-half days. The western calendar, in comparison, is calculated according to the earth¡¦s orbit around the sun.
According to Chinese mythology, the Jade emperor was the ruler of the heavens. He had not seen the creatures of the earth and was curious to know about the characteristics and usefulness of the 12 best animals residing on earth. Finally, the lucky 12 that were chosen in order of preference were rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
Those born in 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 or 2006 belong to the Dog Year. But since the Chinese New Year begins either in January or February unlike the western calendar that begins on January 1 each year, it is advisable to check the Chinese lunar calendar if you are born in the months of January or February.
Characteristics
A dog is said to be man¡¦s best friend because it is dependable, loyal, faithful and extremely honest. Dogs wouldn¡¦t dream of harming people. Instead, being courageous, they will always fight for justice and help friends in need.
Dogs bark to warn you against intruders and danger.
